For the first time in the country, doctors of Care Hospital in Hyderabad have performed a heart surgery on a 27-week baby in the womb to correct a serious condition that reportedly has no cure once the baby is born. Coming as it does on the eve of World Fetus Day on October 31, it has given India a great new reason to celebrate. Dr. K. Nageshwar Rao said that this is called Hypo plastic left heart syndrome in which left ventricle is too small and hence performed this fetal balloon aortic valve artery by 12 specialists.
