Arrest of Bhanu Kiran, the first accused in the case relating to murder of Maddelacheruvu Suri, created ripples in the film industry. Bhanu, who was a benami of Suri, made friends with some popular names in Tollywood and also invested money in some films like Komaram Puli, Khaleja and Rakhta Charithra. Bhanu has spilled the beans in police interrogation that he had harassed three top Telugu heroines and threatened them. At one stage, these heroines were ready to leave the movies due to his torture.
