Prime Minister Narendra Modi has held talks with his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif, the very next day after being sworn in as Prime Minister. This may be an indication of the importance Modi attaches to relations with Pakistan. However, Modi has raised the issue of cross-border terrorism and lack of progress in Pakistani investigations into the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. The meeting is also significant because the relations between the two countries have been practically in a freeze since the last few years, as UPA government did not bother to initiate any meaningful engagement with the neighbouring country.
