Jayalalithaa asks Modi to make English as official language

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK chief J. Jayalalithaa joined her political rival Karunanidhi in demanding the Centre not to impose Hindi on non-Hindi speaking states. In a letter to PM Narendra Modi, she referred to Official language Rule, 1976 to demand that English be made official communication language between the Centre and states. The Tamil NAdu leaders found support from J and K Chief Minister Omar Abdualla, who made a similar plea against imposing Hindi on states.
