The 27,000 sanitation workers of GHMC are in for a shock, as a Rs. 200 crore scam has been unearthed in the Provident funds management wing of GHMC. The Corporation has deputed the responsibility of maintaining the PF to a private consulting company called VSPN. All the 27,000 workers are contract and outsourcing workers. They get salaries between Rs 6500 to Rs. 8,500. Sums of Rs. 700 to 900 are cut for ESI purpose and Rs. 1,300 to Rs.1,800 as PF. But GHMC top officer's silence on the whereabouts of this Rs. 200 crore is causing concern.
