Telangana government gave a shock to some backward castes in Andhra Pradesh. It declared 26 backward castes of Andhra Pradesh as forward castes. The government declined admissions to the students of these communities in BC quota. The BC castes that were considered as OCs in Telangana are Koppula Velama, Kalinga, Setti Balija, Nagaralu, Gavara, Kapu, Toorpu Kapu and others. These castes mainly belong to Uttarandhra area.
