What is it about?
Siddhu (Sudheer) falls in love with Indu (Asmita), who has an overly caring brother Cherry (Randhir). In order get Cherry engaged, Siddhu diverts him towards Anjali (Poonam), who is in love with the former. But there is Shankar (Ajay) a dreaded goon and wannabe politician, who wants to marry Anjali to achieve his goal. Now Siddhu has to get Cherry and Anjali married by playing mind games with Shankar.
Performances:
Sudheer Babu is alright as the lead. He has sported six pack abs for this film and he looked masculine and tough enough to suit the role. He could work a bit more on his expressions. Asmita Sood does what an average Telugu film heroine does, look pretty and act less! Ajay is fine as the villain. Randhir and Poonam Kaur are adequate. Seniors like Suman and Naresh did their bit. There is dog in this film which plays a pivotal role. It entertains with funny dialogue.
Technicalities:
Director Krishna Reddy Gangadasu follows eighty style of filmmaking. The script and execution is pretty old fashioned. Director tried to save the film by banking upon comedy. There are few good laughs but that isn't enough to make you sit through the film without cringing about this routine fare. Music by Sri is mediocre. Cinematography is just about okay. Editing could have been better in the second half.
Analysis:
Aadu Magadra Bujji is a standard template film where the hero uses his brains most of the time and flexes his muscles only when needed. You have seen this already in tons of films and if you are fine with churning out the same masala, you can give it a try. First half of the film is better compared to the tedious second half.
AMB plot is as old as Charminar and has been beaten to death in Telugu as well as all the Indian languages. Sudheer Babu's efforts to be labeled as a mass hero can be seen. Or else we don't see any reason for the young hero to pick up this old fashioned film. But he shouldn't have done this film after doing an entertaining and different Prema Katha Chitram.
This is nothing but asking for trouble and he gets it. Aadu Magadra Bujji may appeal to C center audience. Even the regular masala movie lovers may find it very ordinary and boring film. How many times should we see hero fooling the villain all the time and beats him only during the climax fight? Tired, aren't we? Watch AMB at your own risk.
